The goal of this module is to provide nurses with information about intravenous therapy considerations when caring for geriatric/older adult patients. Upon completion of this module, the participant will be able to: Understand the normal physical changes that occur with aging related to the liver and kidneys Implement the proper assessment steps for dehydration in the geriatric/older adult patient Select the appropriate venous access device and calculate the proper dose of IV medication for the geriatric/older adult patient related to the infusion therapy ordered State two important considerations to accomplish successful peripheral IV catheter insertion in the geriatric/older adult
