Course overview

Within the healthcare environment patient safety is an integral cornerstone to infrastructure. Licensed drug-free healthcare professionals are required to enforce this vision and maintain a high quality of care. However, in the 21st century it is estimated that healthcare professionals abuse legal and illegal substances, work under the influence of these substances and this behavior goes undetected. Circumstances that surround why an individual abuses legal and illegal substances are multifocal. This course is designed to empower nurses to recognize workplace impairment and support colleagues suffering from substance abuse disorders. This course meets the Florida state licensure renewal requirement for healthcare professionals.
