Target Audience: The target audience for this education program is nurses who must be prepared to deal with the impact of sexual misconduct allegations. Course Overview: Being accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a patient is a devastating experience. It may be construed as sexual abuse. The possibility of being charged with sexual abuse has numerous negative implications. This education program provides information about what constitutes sexual abuse and what to do if a patient accuses you of inappropriate sexual contact. Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to: 1. Discuss the issue of patients refusing to have nurses of the opposite gender take care of them. 2. Discuss what constitutes sexual abuse. 3. Describe how to respond to allegations of inappropriate sexual contact with a patient.
