Clinical Pathways for Successful Orthotic Contracture Management Therapy - SOD
Tracking # 20-584585
Course overview
Clinicians have been using refabricated orthotics to regain or maintain lost range of motion caused by contractures for years. These braces for contracture treatment are usually fit so that the brace secures the joint at a comfortable end range stretch. This commonly used fitting method does little to regain motion, instead only maintaining lost range of motion. This course introduces participants to a number of alternative methods of orthotic fitting, including progressive extension orthotic fitting and the use of dynamic or static-dynamic braces to maximize patient rehabilitation. The course discusses clinical pathways matching the most appropriate type of orthotic therapy based upon the underlying joint pathology. Participants are taught the NeuroStretch™ Passive Range of Motion and Joint Assessment Technique for assessing the potential of joint rehabilitation. The Palpation Method of Brace Fitting is also taught, allowing participants to evaluate the stretch provided by a brace to ensure optimal therapeutic stretching is provided.
