This Resident’s Rights and HIPAA; Considerations for Nurses course will provide participants with a review of the basic considerations and guidelines necessary to protect the rights and privacy of their residents. This review can be utilized for nursing personnel in the settings of Long Term Care, Assisted Living and Home Care. Within this course, the participant will review universal human rights, residents rights, informed consent, resident refusal, notification of changes, how to protect resident’s personal property and finances, protecting a resident’s dignity, protecting a resident’s right to social interaction and visitation, grievance processes and procedures, and maintaining the confidentiality of patient information by following HIPAA guidelines.
