Course overview

Wellness is a philosophy that establishes a lifestyle to help people become more satisfied, productive, and happy through making conscious choices in order to live a more satisfying lifestyle. The healthy habits cultivated within the wellness philosophy helps individuals avoid self-destructive behaviors such as substance abuse, toxic relationships, and environments; while encouraging healthy habits including eating a healthy diet, exercise, relaxation, and rest. Due to the diversity of wellness, this approach has been used to address a variety of social, medical and biological illness such as substance abuse, mental illness, pain management, disease, disabilities and eating disorders. Understanding how wellness lifestyles can positively impact patient care in the home setting is important for all home health care providers. This overview of patient wellness takes an exploration of its many uses to promote and address better living.
