Course overview
To improve patient outcomes, hospitals and health care centers around the country have implemented quality improvement measures to increase care coordination, patient safety, and preventive services. While there have been many efforts to improve patient care in all medical settings, there continues to be an issue with critical incidents. Nursing Assistants are often the front line for recognizing and reporting critical incidents when they occur and a significant part of a prevention program. This course will provide an overview of critical incident reporting including the circumstances when incident reports should be filled out. This course will also discuss the necessity of filling out critical incident reports and barriers to compliance. Lastly, new methods to critical incident reporting which may improve its effectiveness will be discussed.
