Course overview

Chronic pain and fatique linked to the musculoskeletal system is one of the leading causes of patients to visit their physicians, with nearly one-third of these patients diagnosed with Fibromyalgia Syndrome. Myofascial Pain Syndrome, which also presents with localized musculoskeletal pain, is considered by many professionals to be a subtype of Fibromyalgia Syndrome. With no exact cause has held responsible for these conditions, treatment can be challenging. This course will guide the rehab professional through an exploration of FMS and MPS interventions and examination, beginning with an identification of symptoms. Dr.Schmidt will provide interventions which aim to improve FMS and pinpoint desirable outcomes of certain techniques. She will also discuss two main diagnostic classifications of chronic pain and identify 18 tender points associated with FMS.
