Implantable pacemakers are ubiquitous and health care workers are reasonably comfortable with caring for patients with them. Temporary transvenous pacemakers are a different story. To properly care for patient's with these devices, a more thorough understanding of what these devices do, how they do it, what can go wrong and how to troubleshoot them is vital.
