Course overview

This course focuses on providing safe and effective massage technique for both patient/client and practitioner as it relates to Deep Tissue Massage. Professionals are instructed on how to provide deep tissue massage that is not painful, what effort is required and explore the true meaning of Deep Tissue Massage. They learn what to do, how to do it and why it works through demonstration, practicing the demonstrated movement and will learn about fascia and energy and their relevance to optimal body function. Professionals are instructed on evaluating each client and condition to determine appropriateness as it relates to safe and effective Deep Tissue Massage delivery. The course examines the anatomy of common injures, assess safety considerations for both patient/client and practitioner, and establish protocols to determine proper duration of treatment. Demonstrations cover the areas of neck, shoulder, back and hip/thigh/leg and manual techniques using the thumb, fingers, palms of hand, hand, knuckles, fist, elbow, forearm as well as techniques to include cross fiber and circular friction, skin rolling, compression, gliding, stripping, broadening, lengthening and stretching.
