Course overview

This educational activity is a comprehensive overview of all aspects of care for the resident experiencing dementia. It will assist the participant in identifying common behaviors seen in this population, explore underlying causes. The lesson will also explore how to promote a therapeutic environment and self-care. The learner will get to explore issues specific to caregivers and families, such as grief, stress, and ethical conflicts. The participant will be able to identify reasons for the development of combative or aggressive behaviors and describe interventions and medications used to help manage these behaviors.
