Course overview

The purpose of this program is to educate the learner about the use of sedation for GI procedures and to review the pharmacology associated with sedation. After studying the information presented here, the learner will be able to: Identify best practice and technique for the administration of medication therapy to gastroenterology patients. Understand the different drug classes used in the treatment of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Discuss the indications and contraindications for the individual drugs that belong to each drug category Describe the responsibilities of the nurse in the administration and monitoring of patient medication regimens
