The purpose of this program is to inform nurses about the use of gastrointestinal manometry and motility studies, including indications, patient preparation, procedural considerations and contraindications. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to: Identify the various motility disorders that can impact upon the gastrointestinal tract Understand the role of manometric tests in the diagnosis and treatment of motility disorders of the gastrointestinal tract Discuss the indications and contraindications for performing motility procedures Describe the responsibilities of the nurse in the performance of the various manometric interventions and procedures
