Implantable pacemakers are ubiquitous and health care workers are reasonably comfortable with caring for patients with them. Temporary transvenous pacemakers are a different story. To properly care for patient's with these devices, a more thorough understanding of what these devices do, how they do it, what can go wrong and how to troubleshoot them is vital. In this course we cover all that and more... How to determine the optimum, and safe, pacing and sensitivity thresholds, typical initial settings, the various modes and how to recognize pacemaker problems.
