Course overview
freeCE.com strongly encourages you to download and print the " One Slide Per Page" handout for this program prior to viewing. This program contains some small charts and images that can not be further enlarged in the classroom itself. The American College of Cardiology (ACC), the American Heart Association (AHA), and the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) recently published new guidelines for heart failure care to include - The Focused Update on New Pharmacological Therapy for Heart Failure. The updates added two novel drugs to the heart failure treatment armamentarium and provide recommendations for these newer pharmacotherapies for patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). This knowledge based activity will review the recommendations and updated pharmaco-therapy for heart failure to include appropriate candidates, relevant drug interactions and monitoring parameters. Further, the activity will offer pharmacists strategies for educating patients on treatment and encouraging compliance with drug and diet therapy as part of the health care team to reduce further hospitalizations and improve patient outcomes.
