Course overview

This presentation will review theories of working memory, focusing on the relationship between working memory and language. Current research on the relationship of working memory and aspects of language development in typical children and children with language impairments will be presented. Working memory assessment measures for children will be discussed and practiced. Finally, clinical implications of working memory in intervention for children with language disorders will be reviewed. Objective Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Define working memory and summarize its role in language development. Complete assessments of working memory and interpret results as they relate to language performance. Integrate working memory strategies into language intervention approaches.
