The greatest human freedom is to live and die according to one’s desires and beliefs. As the literature will show, the most common desire among those with a terminal diagnoses is to die with some degree of dignity. Quality end-of-life care entails an emphasis on patient choice with a high degree of clinical decision making in the area of care with dignity.
