Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that usually attacks the lungs and is spread through the air from person to person. Certain people or groups of people are at a greater risk for becoming infected with TB including persons with certain medical conditions, the elderly, and the people who care for them. This makes it important for health care providers to be knowledgeable about the disease and have a clear understanding of how to screen, assess, and treat TB.
