Course overview

The use of latex gloves by health care workers has increased since infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis B became more prevalent. As a result, latex allergies have become a serious health care problem in recent years. Something as simple as blowing up a rubber balloon may cause an allergic reaction to latex. However, latex gloves are the main source of allergic reactions. These gloves are effective in preventing transmission of many infectious diseases to health care workers. Latex is also used in many medical devices.
