The Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has revised the “Interpretive Guidelines for Long-Term Care Facilities,” Tag F880. The revised material is effective as of November 28, 2017. The intent of this regulation is to assure that facilities develop, implement, and maintain an Infection Prevention and Control Program in order to prevent, recognize, and control the onset and spread of infection within the facility.
