Through this Nursing Leadership Series, you have been encouraged to examine yourself as an individual leader in Part 1, develop as a team builder in Part 2, better understand teamwork in Part 3, and learn the art and science of delegation in Part 4. In this course, you will examine your role as a leader within your health care organization. You will explore the theoretical aspects of organizational culture for the nurse leader to learn more about how health care delivery operates. The spotlight on leadership across the health care industry and around the globe has become forceful as the baby boomers begin to reach retirement age. The nurse leader must have the competencies necessary to design, coordinate, and advance patient safety principles and practices across the domains of governance, patient care practice, education, and research in collaboration with team work and organizational structure.
