Learn moreCourse overview
The purpose of this course is to integrate recently published pain management evidence into clinical practice and care for the terminally ill. A case scenario approach to this topic will transpire throughout this course to aid in the discovery and application of more effective ways for health care professionals to assist patients and families in the management of pain at life’s end. The case will take you on a journey with Margaret and her progressive ailment that leads to challenges in her end-of-life goals. Nurses have the primary responsibility for the assessment of pain and its management, and if we nurses can find a way to provide a more effective means of pain management, this, then, could only support our patients in their final journey to a more dignified and peaceful death. Significant resources with current evidence will be suggested to address those challenges.
