Course overview

Asthma is a common chronic condition that affects the lungs and respiratory system. It is characterized by wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath and coughing. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), more than 25 million Americans suffer from asthma including 7.1 million children. Asthma affects people of all ages but often starts in childhood. There is no cure, but asthma can be managed and individuals can expect to live normal, active lives.
