Audience This course is intended for advance practice nurses who provide periodic care for children. Course overview This course presents the unique qualities of children, the risks they face and their physiological differences compared to adults. If you periodically provide care for children, this course will expand your knowledge of the differences of children and provide a foundation to determine appropriate therapies. Learning objectives Upon completion of this course, nurses will be able to: Associate the appropriate age to each pediatric population. Name at least two of the virtues described in Erikson’s 1959 theory of psychosocial development. State at least three reasons why children may be more susceptible to exposures of environmental chemicals. Provide at least one difference between children’s and adults’ skin that can impact the absorption of harmful chemicals. Identify at least two of the four basic subgroups described collectively as ADME.
