Course overview

Clonidine has labeled uses as an antihypertensive, an analgesic, and as a treatment for patients who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. There are also many unlabeled uses for clonidine for which clonidine is often prescribed. Although clonidine has a labeled use as an antihypertensive agent, it is seldom used for this, and typically only as a fourth-line agent after standard antihypertensive combinations have not been successful. It is used to control the pressor response that can occur during elective procedures, such as facelifts and laryngoscopy, to minimize intraoperative and post-operative complications. No Test Required!
