Sacubitril/Valsartan
Tracking # 20-624661
Course overview
Sacubitril/valsartan (brand name Entresto) is a combination angiotensin II receptor blocker and neprilysin inhibitor, referred to as an angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI). Sacubitril is a neprilysin inhibitor and valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker or ARB; used to treat patients who have heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. Currently, sacubitril/valsartan is only approved and marketed as an ARNI. It has been shown to be effective at reducing the risk of death from cardiovascular causes and to reduce the incidence of hospitalization. Entresto is effective for patients who have chronic heart failure (class II through IV under the New York Heart Association (NYHA) Classifications) with reduced ejection fraction. This drug is usually given with other drugs and is used in place of an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor or an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB).
