This course provides an overview of wandering and safety for persons with dementia. By the end of this course learners will be able to: 1) define wandering as it relates to persons with dementia, 2) explain why wandering occurs, 3) describe risk factors associated with wandering, 4) identify best practices for responding to a wandering incident, 5) identify other safety risks for persons with dementia, and 6) identify safety measures that can be implemented to mitigate common safety risks. Course is approved for 1.0 continuing education unit-CEU-contact hour to Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states), Social Workers (NASW), Florida Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Certified Case Managers (CCM), Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC). Learners must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
