Course overview
This course will provide nurses with current knowledge about substance use disorders and the management of pain with opioids. Upon completing of this course, the learner will be able to describe the measures used to predict risk for substance use disorders in patients as well as the mechanism of action of opioids and their safe use for the management of mild to severe and acute chronic pain. With this knowledge, nurses will be able to educate patients about pain and advocate for safe and effective pain treatment based upon current, scientific evidence.
