Tracking # 20-631433
Course overview
Every EMS provider, regardless of training, experience or rank, has seen or will make an error in patient care. Crew Resource Management (CRM) is a tool designed to reduce the number and impact of human of errors by using all resources available.1 For EMS providers, resources are more than the equipment used or the know-how to operate it. Resources also include the collective knowledge and experience of the team, the ability of the team to communicate clearly and freely, the desire of leaders and followers to perform to the best of their abilities, and the willingness to learn from critique and feedback.2 The guiding principles of CRM include situational awareness, decision making, communication, teamwork, and workload management, all of which can help EMS teams remain mission-focused and safely provide the best patient care possible.
