Emergency Responders, Fire, and Cancer (v2)
Tracking # 20-631437
Course overview
This program is intended to raise awareness among fire service personnel about the elevated risk of cancer associated with working as a firefighter. Research is confirming what has been suspected for some time: that the rate of some cancers among firefighters is greater than that of the general population. It is imperative that firefighters and all emergency responders follow best practices by wearing PPE for the full duration of a fire event, and thoroughly decontaminating PPE, equipment vehicles, and person immediately after every call to prevent prolonged exposure to carcinogens and other harmful materials.
