Tracking # 20-633311
Course overview
Pediatric calls raise the anxiety levels of almost any responder. Developing a solid base knowledge and skill set will help you to provide optimal care during very emotional situations to this unique subset of patients. Pediatric patients have unique anatomical features, and you must adjust your assessment accordingly. You must also recognize that some treatments, such as spinal motion restriction, will have to be adjusted for these patients. Your understanding of the common injuries that occur in pediatric patients, as well as their associated injury patterns, will assist you in your overall ability to provide care. Communicating with children can be challenging; it is essential that you adjust your style of communication to meet the needs and age of the individual patient.
