The purpose of this program is to provide an overview of newborn adaptation after birth and management strategies and procedures utilized in the care of the newborn. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to: Describe three adaptive changes that occur in the newborn during transition to extrauterine life Identify two ways that a newborn regulates body temperature Review neurological behaviors of the normal newborn Identify risk factors for the late preterm infant Discuss steps necessary to provide neonatal resuscitation
