RX/NP Objectives: 1.Describe the risk factors for lung cancer and how it is diagnosed. 2.Discuss the overall treatment goal and general plan for managing non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). 3.Discuss the currently recommended targeted treatment approaches and regimens for NSCLC. 4.Counsel patients about major adverse effects and drug interactions with oral targeted treatments for NSCLC; recommend management options. Tech Objectives 1.State the genetic mutations or gene rearrangements that a stage IV non-small cell lung cancer patient may have in which a targeted oral therapy is recommended. Recognize which medications target each specific mutation. 2.List the brand and generic names for the oral targeted therapies discussed in this issue; identify 3 possible side effects of each medication. 3.For each targeted oral therapy, recognize the usual starting dose range and state the recommended administration instructions.
