Statement of Learning Need

Clinicians need to know the indications, dosing and dosing adjustments, contraindications and potential side effects of prazosin. Prazosin is well-known for its benefit as an antihypertensive and to reduce symptoms related to post-traumatic stress disorder. However, clinicians should be aware that some experts have suggested that the trends in prazosin dosing for patients diagnosed with comorbid anxiety/panic in the setting of trauma is generally not high enough to achieve best outcomes.

Course Purpose

To inform health clinicians of current published information relative to the basic pharmacological profile and clinical pearls on prazosin.

Target Audience

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, and other Interdisciplinary Health Team Members.
