Pets are Family Too! Pharmacy Provided Pet Meds and Services
Tracking # 20-647451
Course overview
Pharmacists, thanks to their extensive training, are regarded as the drug experts. However, for most pharmacists, that only applies to human medications. Most pharmacy schools have no mention of veterinary medicine in their traditional curriculum. With sixty-eight percent of households having some pet under their roof, this presents a huge opportunity for pharmacists to “cash in” on the pet market. This webinar will focus on the canine and feline population, and treatment of their most common disease states. Medications will be reviewed that are for human use, but frequently used in pets. Veterinary specific medications will be introduced to the practicing pharmacist. With no insurance prior authorizations, no DIR fees, and owners happy to fund the care of their pets, having these veterinary prescribed medications in the community pharmacy would produce a much needed revenue stream.
