Course overview

This course is designed to give an overview of histories, traditions, normal practices, and applied concepts appropriate to family psychotherapy in detail. Aspects of family counseling technique and skills, foundations of various models of family therapy, and characteristics of the counselor and client family processes will be covered in this course. This course suffices a requirement of a Marriage and Family core class that will be taught in the context of a systemic perspective and contextually and culturally specific approach that addresses family relational issues.
