Course overview

Counselor Competence in Treating LGBT Clients (Chapter 13): From A Provider¿s Introduction to Substance Abuse Treeatment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Individuals will help counselors to become more aware of their homophobia and heterosexism, how these biases can lead to mistreatment, and how to monitor and manage their own biases. This chapter will explain how to provide good quality, fair, ethical, and competent treatment to LGBT clients, and how to provide LGBT sensitive treatment. Lastly, it will cover what counselors should consider in treating LGBT criminal justice clients.
