Facing a shortage of epic proportions, the nursing community needs to plan how we can continue to accomplish nursing care while assuring the public access to safe, competent nursing care. Many nurses today do not feel comfortable with delegation. Therefore, nurses often find themselves in a "I'll just do it myself" mentality that does not serve our patients in the most efficient manner. Delegation is a process that, when used appropriately can result in safe and effective nursing care, while increasing patient satisfaction. Delegation is a skill that must be practiced to become proficient. This course will teach nurses practical skills and principles behind effective delegation.
