Update on Immuno-Oncology Biomarkers

Course overview

This 1 hour, interactive, online CME/CMLE module will help pathologists, laboratory professionals, and other members of the cancer care team gain deeper scientific knowledge in immuno-oncology (IO) and keep up with the rapidly evolving science of IO biomarkers. In this module, participants will learn about evolving concepts in IO biomarker testing, including the role of tumor mutational burden (TMB). Additionally, the latest information on PD-L1 testing and interpretation for different cancers will be addressed, as well as the expanding use of checkpoint inhibitors for treatment. Learning Objectives: 1) Discuss the current and evolving role of I-O biomarkers such as PD-L1 and TMB 2) Identify the advantages and limitations of current I-O biomarker testing and interpretation methods 3) Describe the science of TMB and its potential role as a predictive I-O biomarker 4) Summarize ongoing investigational efforts to utilize biomarkers and better predict response to immune checkpoint inhibitor (CPI) therapy 5) Outline the expanding use of immune CPIs to treat different types of cancers Faculty: Robert A.
