Statement of Learning Need

The medical literature has increasingly focused on the opioid crisis and the role of fentanyl in this epidemic. A pharmacological profile of fentanyl, including adverse effects, available forms and doses, contraindications, warnings, labeled uses, and the use of fentanyl during pregnancy, as well as the treatment for opioid overdose is important for health clinicians to understand. 

Course Purpose 

To increase health clinician knowledge of the recommended use, benefits and risks of fentanyl use, and of interventions in the setting of a fentanyl use disorder and overdose.

Target Audience

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, and other Interdisciplinary Health Team Members.
