Course overview

Summarize manual muscle strength testing: purposes; procedures; and grading. Describe origins, insertions, actions, athletic activities and common clinical conditions involved with ten muscles in the anterior and posterior compartments of the thigh. Apply knowledge of anatomy to refine vectors of force and other procedures involved in performing manual strength tests for muscles of the thigh. Manually measure strength of ten muscles in the anterior and posterior compartments of the thigh. Interpret the clinical and athletic significance of abnormal results with manual strength tests of the anterior and posterior muscles of the thigh.
