Statement of Learning Need

1. Staphylococcus aureus is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. MRSA is a common pathogen in hospital and community settings. All health professionals need to be informed of the cause, transmission and treatment of MRSA hospital- and community acquired infections. When treating a person with MRSA infection, especially in the Intensive Care Unit, interdisciplinary health team members will often need to collaborate on the best treatment approach.

 

Course Purpose

To provide all health clinicians with knowledge of MRSA infection rates, transmission and recommended treatment for patients who are diagnosed with a MRSA infection.

 

Target Audience

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, and other Interdisciplinary Health Team Members.
