Course overview

Based on the book "Exposure Therapy for Anxiety: Principles and Practice (2nd ed.)" by Jonathan S. Abramowitz, PhD, ABPP; Brett J. Deacon, PhD; and Stephen P. H. Whiteside, PhD, ABPP. This CE program awards 25 credits upon successful completion of the 200-question test. It will present the participant with the fundamentals of exposure therapy, its history, and describes how and why it works with those who suffer from sometimes crippling fears and anxieties. The authors emphasize the importance of the therapist-client relationship, demonstrate how to create a treatment plan, and illustrate the specifics of the treatment protocol for the most common anxieties in society. Included is a discussion of the implications of combining medication with exposure therapy, the use of technology in exposure therapy, combining Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with exposure therapy, and the risk-benefits of exposure therapy.
