HIPAA-The Privacy Rule Standards

Course overview

This course was designed to provide continuing education hours to Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Mental Health Counselors in the state of Florida. This is a course based on the United States Department of Health Human Services- Summary of the HIPAA Privacy Rule. Students will learn about the use and disclosure of individuals health information; increase understanding on the Privacy Rule protection of all individually identifiable health information held or transmitted by a covered entity or its business associate, in any form or media, whether electronic, paper, or oral; and explain in what circumstances covered entities may use and disclose protected health information without individual authorization as required by law.
