The target audience for this education program is nurses who want to enhance their knowledge of HIV infection, how to prevent infection, and how the infection is treated. The assessment and care of individuals with HIV and AIDS continues to progress. This course specifically addresses many of the updates in assessment and patient care as well as providing details about prevention strategies for health care workers. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1.Explain how HIV is transmitted; 2.Discuss the incidence and prevalence of HIV infection; 3.Identify groups at high-risk for HIV infection; 4.Identify infections common to HIV/AIDS; 5.Explain strategies to prevent HIV infection in healthcare workers and in the general public; and 6.Identify treatment options for HIV infection.
