Statement of Learning Need

All members of a health team are responsible to recognize potentially dangerous exposures to infection. This course includes an understanding of the types of infection exposures, the principles of infection prevention and control, barrier precautions, including engineering and work controls and safe and appropriate use of personal protective equipment to prevent the transmission of hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV. This creates a safer environment for health team members, patients and their visitors.

Course Purpose

To provide health clinicians with basic knowledge infectious disease prevention of exposure to help make workplaces safer for health team workers, patients and the community.

Target Audience

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, and other Interdisciplinary Health Team Members.
