Course overview

Immigration. Racism. Mass Incarceration. All subjects that are often banned from the dinner table. But, as people of faith, it's at the table where we can feast without shame, turn toward one another without fear, and let love overflow into the rest of the world. The table is exactly where these conversations belong. Join us as we, with courage, examine incarceration and discuss creative ways to work alongside the justice system for liberty and justice for all. Since 1970, the prison population has grown by 700%, giving the US the largest prison population in the world. And while women are the fastest growing prison demographic, people of color have been up to 10 times more likely to be in jail or prison that their white counterparts for the last 40 years. What role has Christianity played in the evolution and expansion of this prison-industrial complex? How can we help bring healing and restoration? Join us as author Dominique Gilliard, along with individuals on both sides of the justice system, discuss creative solutions to mass incarceration that the church can participate in. Who cares? We do.
