Course overview

When caring for the person in an assisted-living situation, in a nursing home or similar facility; it is important to develop a plan of care to make sure the patients physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs are being met. The behaviors and needs of people in a nursing home change constantly as the disease and symptoms progress, plans for their care must be reviewed and updated on a regular basis. Every caregiver must find a balance between allowing the patient enough independence to have opportunities to succeed, but not so much as to cause new failures. Formulating and consistently revising a workable plan of care will help the facilitator assess the persons abilities. This course will teach you the above values with your patient.
