Alchemical Healing: Using the Tools of Chinese Medicine to Address the World Soul in Troubled Times

Course overview

In this one day seminar, Lorie Dechar will offer practitioners tools for working with the emotional and psychological challenges human beings are facing as we collectively continue to navigate the social and cultural turbulence of this time. Guided by the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine and Taoist alchemy, Lorie will emphasize the opportunities for healing and transformation inherent in moments of adversity but will also address the necessity of dealing with the shock, destabilization, and trauma that is an inevitable part of all crisis and change. The course will present an overview of Lorie's alchemical approach and offer ways that acupuncturists can integrate aspects of Alchemical Healing into their own practice. Drawing from over three decades of clinical experience working with psycho emotional issues, Lorie will offer participants tools, practices and treatment protocols as well as myths, symbols and imagery that can support patients in discovering their own inner resources, resilience and innate sense of well being. In addition, she will address the use of essential oils and flower essences in soul level healing work and share insights from her two forthcoming books, The Alchemy of Inner Work A Guide for Turning Illness and Suffering Into True Health and Well Being and Kigo Exploring the Spiritual Essence of Acupuncture Points Through the Changing Seasons. Special emphasis will be placed on practitioner self care in the face of cultural and planetary challenge and the ultimate blossoming of a new, more integral attitude toward illness and healing.
