Statement of Learning Need

The principles of managing a critically ill patient on a ventilator is essential for health clinicians to understand in order to diagnose and start proper treatment early, provide safe and appropriate bedside care, and to lower risk factors and to avoid complications associated with ventilator-associated pneumonia. 

Course Purpose

To provide health clinicians with knowledge of the basic skills to manage care of the patient on a ventilator, to prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia, and to recognize and treat pneumonia effectively when it is diagnosed.

Target Audience

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, and other Interdisciplinary Health Team Members.
